Atypical Transgender Late Bloomer

Saw the movie, Emilia Perez . Spoilers . This is the story of a terrible violent Mexican cartel boss, with a wife and kids, who strongly desires to abandon his life and become a woman, using the unlimited fortune they have built. To that end, he enlists a struggling attorney to make arrangements in the background. Bottom line up front: this is a fantastic movie. It might not be for everybody. It grabbed my heart. There are criticisms from the trans/ LGBTQ community. The narco boss is a terrible person who goes trans. It's not a positive role model. This is not too different from Silence of the Lambs having a purported trans character : sure, there may be a trans character, but they're a serial murderer. The scenes of the narco becoming a woman, and the results of four years of transition and surgery and a fortune spent, were compelling to me. These are movies I've found useful about people discovering (or recognizing) their homosexuality late in life - the tragic Late Bloomer. Far From Heaven involves interlocking forbidden relationships. The husband has been concealing his homosexuality, but it's uncovered unintentionally during an arrest, and another time when the wife surprises him at the office. This is a great movie. All the major characters end up the worse for their experience and discovery. I think there's hidden meanings in the colors used for different scenes, and also for the titles on movie marquees seen during the film.

These are some movies I've come across that were helpful to me regarding being beaten as a child. Affliction . This is an amazing movie about the end-state of a dysfunctional family, showing the varying effects of trauma on people in their 50's, and the slow departure from mainstream priorities. I'm amazed that it was made as a commercial movie. Good Will Hunting . Although I tend to avoid Affleck-Damon movies, this was very good. Deals with the 22-year old vintage of trauma results.
